Mike Flynn has urged all County fans to play their part as they look to secure safety against Notts County at Rodney Parade this Saturday, writes Ryan Robinson.
Flynn and his side know victory against the Magpies will guarantee their place in League 2 for next season, and Flynn wants Rodney Parade packed to the rafters to get the side over the line.
“It's all to play for next week. We're at home and we'll sell the place out,” he said.
“We’ll have it rocking and the boys have got to rise to the occasion.”
He added: “The fixtures we've had - Portsmouth away, Carlisle away, Luton and Blackpool at home - it's been a real tough set of fixtures to finish the season with but the boys have been a credit to the club.
“The boys have put in performances good enough to get us to the last game and we have to take the chance to stay up. It’s a shootout now; it's sudden death.”
The Exiles head into the game on the back of the narrow 2-1 defeat to Carlisle United last weekend and Flynn expects a similar level of performance from the visitors on Saturday.
He said: “It would have been unbelievable if we could have gotten it done against Carlisle but you can see why they're in the play offs - they are a very good team.
“It's a two-horse race now and only one of us will stay up. I said a few weeks ago that we've got six cup finals left and now it's one.
“It's not going to be easy against Notts County. They won again on the weekend against a good Blackpool team so it's going to be a tough game. But we've got to go and get the three points.”
Some early-team news for the crunch match is that Mark Randall’s injury is not too serious. The 27-year-old was withdrawn at half-time as a precaution but Flynn fully expects the midfielder to be available for selection.
He said: “Mark will be alright for next week. He had a bang in the ribs and was struggling with his breathing. If you can't breathe then you can't run and we needed everyone to put a shift in because we knew Carlisle were going to come out fighting.”
However, Flynn had less encouraging news about Alex Samuel. The Swansea loanee was also taken off at Brunton Park but Flynn couldn’t be certain as to whether the youngster would recover in time.
He continued: “His hamstring is very sore. Nothing is definite yet but if he is out then it will give someone else a chance to come in and be the hero.”
There was however some positive team-news from the trip to Cumbria.
After missing the win over Accrington Stanley, Scot Bennett returned from his hamstring injury and played 45 minutes.
And Lenell John Lewis made a late cameo appearance for his first minutes of the season.
John-Lewis had been out since July with a knee injury sustained in a pre-season friendly against Caldicot Town.
And Flynn says the striker is a welcome addition to first-team action.
“I was really pleased to have him back,” he said. “He forced my hand a little bit with his performances in training - he's been on fire.
“I'm glad for him personally that he's overcome his injury problems and I thought his performance was excellent considering he's been out for so long.
“He said in the week that he's aiming to play the last game and score the winner and if he does I'll bite his hand off.”
