TERRY EVANS returned to the club recently and continued as if he had never been away. What has confused many of our fans is why he went away in the first place! Terry has a reassuring message to those who might have thought his heart was not in playing for the club.

"I did not ask to leave the club and thought I had done well. We had just finished seventh and I was determined to get really fit in the summer of 2004.
"I was confident that, with the addition of a few players we would do well in our first season in Conference South. But Peter Nicholas told me a week before we were due back for training that he could not offer me anything. The timing was bad and I didn't have any option but to find another club.
"I was disillusioned with football, just as I had been when Swansea City released me a year earlier."
Terry had become a very popular player in his one season here and rarely allowed his performance to slip from the high standard he sets himself. He believes though the best is yet to come.
"I still believe the fans here haven't seen the best of me. I have been used as a utility player and I don't |

mind where I play in the side's interest, but I think I would be a better player if I had a run in the side in my favourite position of right back or right wing back."
Terry, who celebrated his 30th birthday earlier this month, has had two spells with league clubs, starting out as a YTS player before signing professional forms with Cardiff City. Kenny Hibbitt allowed him to go on loan to Barry Town, assuring him that it was in his best interests. He later found out that Tranmere Rovers, then in Division One, had been interested in signing him.
His time at Jenner Park was happy though with annual excursions into Europe and some memorable experiences of trips to far flung places.
He left Barry to return to league football with Swansea City and easily adapted to the step up before losing his place only after sustaining an injury.
Terry spent last season at Cardiff Grange Quins as they successfully pursued their goal of a place in the Welsh Premier League, before financial problems caused them to trim their wage bill this term.
This resulted in his welcome return to the Stadium and life with the Tonyrefail Evanses appears good at the moment. His wife Stacy has given birth to Ieuan, who at eight months old is already shaping up to follow his namesake into the Welsh rugby team, and who is a little brother for six year-old Lauren.
Terry has just started a new job as an assistant accountant with Glamorgan Telecom as he continues his progress up the career ladder towards full accountancy qualifications.
