Following the sad demise of Newport County on March 2nd 1989, three meetings of supporters were held in the Lysaght Institute, with its historic connections to the club. The first, on April 14th, was a meeting of Lifeline members, at which it was decided to investigate the possibility of forming a new club, with the aim of eventually returning League football to Newport. The second, on June 10th, was a press conference to announce plans at which over 200 supporters attended. The final meeting, on June 18th, was attended by over 400 supporters who enthusiastically agreed to form a new club.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the formation of Newport AFC, now Newport County AFC, we will return to the splendidly refurbished Ballroom of the Lysaght Institute for an anniversary dinner on Wednesday 18th June at 7:00pm. There will be a 3 course dinner, the famous local band Jarzino and other entertainment along with guest speaker John Hartson. Players of all eras will be in attendance.
