JACK COMPTON JOINS THE EXILES

20 June 2016

Newport County AFC are pleased to announce the signing of Jack Compton on a one-year deal.

The twenty-seven-year-old Welsh winger will bolster Manager Warren Feeney's attacking options, as the Manager continues to build a competitive squad for next season.

Born in Cardiff, the winger started his youth career at the Portsmouth academy, before progressing to West Bromwich Albion at the age of seventeen.

In 2010 Jack moved north of the border for a spell at Falkirk, where he made over thirty appearances, before rejoining Portsmouth.

The winger expanded his experience of the Football League with spells at Colchester United and Hartlepool United and spent last season at League Two counterparts Yeovil Town, where he scored four goals in twenty appearances.

Speaking about his move to Rodney Parade, Jack believes that returning to his native Wales will help him prosper on the pitch for Newport County AFC.

"I'm delighted to get everything signed and over the line today," said the winger.

"It is good to be back playing in Wales. My friends and family are used to travelling across the country to see me play, so playing so close to home will make it a lot easier for them, and that can only benefit me on the pitch."

"I'm an out and out winger and I like to attack defenders and hopefully create chances for the players around me."

Manager Warren Feeney added, "Jack is another signing that has a great deal of experience at this level."

"I am a big fan of my wingers and Jack has got a great left foot and has a great amount of pace."

"The squad is starting to shape up quite nicely. There are a couple of more faces to come in, but I'm very happy with the signings we have been able to secure so far this summer."
