MATCH REPORT: Dagenham & Redbridge

19 September 2015

A spirited County performance, leads to a goalless draw in East-London...

Danny Holmes made a return to the first-team and fitted into a back-three, alongside Kieran Parselle and Matt Partridge.

The new combination at the back was tested within the first thirty seconds, when Zavon Hines latched onto a long-ball forward and poked his effort just wide of the left-hand post.

Medy Elito (a late addition to the starting eleven) was enjoying his role, sitting just behind the two strikers. It was his chipped ball forward that curled into the path of Aaron Collins, who had effort blocked on route to goal.

Elito was again involved, releasing Lenell John-Lewis who hit his shot wide, from an acute angle.

Zak Ansah was introduced at the break and was immediately involved in the action. A smart turn at the edge of the area, allowed the striker space to fire an effort towards goal, that forced Liam O'Brien into making a diving save.

The home side also had a change at the break, with veteran forward Jamie Cureton being brought into the fold. The second half was ten minutes old when the cultured striker (now into his fourth decade) had his first opportunity. A whipped cross from the left allowed him to to get goal side of the County defence, but his effort from six-yard rose over the crossbar.

Substitute Zak Ansah was then forced off, after his head collided with a high-boot and the striker suffered mild-concussion. Josh Laurent was his replacement and was pushed into a more attacking position.

Medy Elito again provided the catalyst for another great opportunity for County to break the deadlock. The midfielder slipped a delicate pass through to Josh Laurent, who was forced to take the opportunity with his left foot and his effort flashed past the post.

Into the final stages of the game and it was the home side who had the best opportunity to snatch a late win. Jamie Cureton again found space to direct a cross, this time from the right, towards goal but Joe Day was alert to tip his effort over the bar.

Late on in the game there was time for Lewis Bamford to make his debut from the bench, replacing Medy Elito.
