MATCH REPORT: Leyton Orient

22 August 2015

After a stunning first-half comeback from County, Dean Cox grabs a second-half winner to ensure Orient take all three points.

County handed a debut to Zak Ansah, with Josh Laurent making the bench after joining the County ranks this week.

With the excitement of the arrival of the two new additions, County couldn't have gotten off to a worse start. In the third minute a cross from the left found the towering Paul McCallum who was able to head the ball home from close range and out of the reach of Joe Day in the County goal.

The afternoon got worse for County in the seventh minute, when former Arsenal striker Jay Simpson found space at the edge of the County area to craft a shot that fired into the top corner, meaning the home side were two goals down in under ten minutes.

After the second goal went in the visitors were keen to maintain their attacking intent. Midfielder Dean Cox was proving to be a handful for the County defence, hitting a dangerous cross that found Paul McCallum free at the far post, but he headed his effort over the crossbar.

The game was turned on its head as the half-time break approached. After a nice flowing move by County down the left-wing, a low cross eventually found Scott Boden in the visitors area, and the striker was able to fire the ball home.

That goal lifted the crowd and they didn't have to wait long before County grabbed an equalising goal. Skipper Mark Byrne found space in the opponents half to direct a effort from range towards goal that dipped under the crossbar.

County wouldn't have wanted the first-half to conclude, but managed to renew their attacking threat after the break. Kevin Feely found himself on the end of a deep cross and directed his header back across goal and forced Alex Cisak into producing a diving save.

In their first attack into the County area in the second period, Dean Cox managed to beat his defender and tap the ball home to put the leaders ahead again.

County had chances late on to draw back level. Making his debut from the bench, Josh Laurent was picked out in the area by Medy Elito but the midfielder drove his effort over the bar.
