County Remain Sixth In League 2

28 March 2015

Newport County remain in sixth place following today's League 2 results.

Goals from Aaron O'Connor and Shaun Jeffers had seen County climb up to sixth place following last night's 2-0 win over Accrington Stanley, and The Exiles remain in sixth spot following today's round of matches. You can watch highlights now from last night's win on the Official Newport County YouTube channel

At the top of the league both second placed Shrewsbury and third placed Wycombe recorded wins to keep up the pressure on leaders Burton, with the Brewers set to face Stevenage on Monday.

Third placed Bury versus fourth placed Southend was billed as the game of the weekend in League 2, but it lasted just six minutes after a torrential downpour saw Southend's long journey put to waste.

Meanwhile Plymouth climbed up into the play off places with a 3-0 victory over Cheltenham Town at Whaddon Road, whilst Luton Town drop out of the top seven following a 2-1 defeat at Northampton Town.

Next up for Newport County is a massive home game against Hartlepool United on Friday (3pm KO). Hartlepool recorded a fourth straight win today, beating Cambridge United 2-1. The win sees The Pools climb out of the bottom two. Get your tickets now by clicking here
