Newport County dropped into the relegation zone in mid-week after a series of results around them went against the club, but manager Justin Edinburgh insists there is no need to panic.
“We have two-three games on most of the clubs around us and just one win takes us back out of that bottom four, you look at the table and yes it doesn’t look good but there is no need to panic, I’m not and the players are not.
We didn’t play a League game and couldn’t do anything about it but tomorrow we can, yes it will be tough as Gateshead, who are sixth and just a couple points out of the play offs and yes we will go out and try and win the game, it is still very much in our own hands and while that remains the case there is no need to press that panic button – it’s just not me.
We go into the game on the back of draw and cup win and it’s a platform to build on, you have to start a run somewhere so why not now.”
Edinburgh will put new loan signing Adam Chapman from Oxford United on the bench tomorrow at Gateshead and wait for the Football Association of Wales for international clearance on Romone Rose Edinburgh has offered terms to the winger, who was released by Thai Premier League outfit Muangthong United.
Chapman is Northern Ireland under-21 midfielder and can also play at right-back, Edinburgh said: “Adam is an excellent signing for us and knows this league and its level, but only had today’s training session under his belt and will start the game on the bench.”
Chapman was named man of the match in Oxford’s Conference play-off victory over York City at Wembley in May 2010.
With the Romone signing expected to go through before Tuesday transfer deadline it will bring the total number of signings this month to six with Nat Jarvis, Andy Sandell, Ryan Charles and Lee Minshull already at the club
