Goalkeeper Danny Potter began his footballing life as a Chelsea trainee, before heading to Exeter City in 1998 where he was to make his league debut. Spells with both Chelmsford City and Weymouth followed, before a move to Canvey Island in March, 2003, where he racked up more than a century of appearances as part of the powerful Canvey team that won promotion to the National Conference. After Canvey's Conference dream unfortunately ceased in 2006, Danny enjoyed a brief stint with Stevenage before signing for Cambridge United in May of 2007. He went on to enjoy a fruitful stay at the Abbey, totting up another century of appearances as part of the team that contested successive play-off finals. 32-year old Danny arrived here at Newport County via Torquay United, with whom he spent last season.
