County's new striker up for the task
Rene Howe met up with his new team-mates at the Newport County AFC training ground yesterday and was warmly welcomed by some familiar faces.'I know Aaron O'Connor and Danny Crow from my spells at previous clubs. It is always nice to know some people when you arrive at a new club. Thankfully that was the case at Newport, but I needn't have worried as everyone has been so friendly in the short space of time I have been here. I knew the gaffer (Justin) from when he was manager at Rushden & Diamonds as he brought me in on loan from Peterborough United and I enjoyed working under him during that period.'
Rene's record is there for all to see with over 100 career goals since making his debut for Bedford Town in 2003 and Justin Edinburgh was please to get his target.
'I am delighted to sign Rene for Newport County AFC. I first made enquiries prior to the January transfer window opening and he brings us knowledge at this level and above, and I am sure he will bring us goals.'
