Newport County AFC to play Croesyceiliog AFC in pre season friendly
Newport County AFC will send a Development squad to Croesyceiliog AFC on Wednesday 16th July at Woodland Road Sports & Social Club with a 7:00pm kick off as part of the anniversary celebrations for the Gwent club who were formed 50 years ago.The match will involve a mixture of Academy and Youth players with first team involvement and the club is looking forward to continuing our commitment within the community in what should be a great day.
Croesyceiliog AFC finished a respectable 8th in Division 2 of the Welsh Football League this season and have a fine tradition of producing players who have gone on to forge careers in the game. Terry Cooper and Glyn Garner were both former 'Croesy' players that also played for the County whilst a previous manager of Newport County, Les Graham, was coach of Croesyceiliog back in the 1960's
