Fraser Franks

Date of birth

183 cm

Fraser Franks signed for Newport on the 18th June 2018, making his debut on the opening day of the 18/19 season.

Franks is a new face at Rodney Parade, but he has not let that stop him establishing himself as one of the first names on the team sheet. After signing from Stevenage, he has already developed a strong chemistry with the rest of the defence and looks to have a bright future ahead for County.

Franks began his youth career with Chelsea and stayed in their youth ranks until the age of 16 when he joined Brentford. In 2009, he signed his first professional contract with Brentford and was sent out on loan to Basingstoke Town where he made his professional debut in a 2-1 win against Braintree Town. It didn’t take long for Franks to score his first goal, scoring on the 24th October in a 2-1 win against Weymouth.

Following his time at Brentford, Franks spent two years at Wimbledon before joining Welling United in a bid to gain regular first team football. After winning the Conference South title and being named in the Conference South team of the year, he went on to be a highly sought-after defender in the Conference before eventually having his release clause met by Luton Town. Franks then won the Conference Premier title with Luton before joining nearby neighbours, Stevenage Town, ahead of the 15/16 season. Franks went on to win various awards in his time with Stevenage, including Player’s Player of the Year and Season Ticket Holder’s Player of the Year.

In 2018, Franks signed for Newport County and scored his first goal on 21st August in a 3-2 thriller of a win against Notts County.
