Clarke began his career at Oxford United in 2007 and subsequently played for Oxford City and Salisbury Town and Woking. Following the expiry of his contract at Woking in June 2015. Clarke signed for Bristol Rovers, newly promoted back into The Football League.Clarke ended the season with several first team appearances as he provided a key role in Rovers' 3rd-place finish to receive promotion into the Football League One. This success was followed by a two year stint at Walsall before in June 2021 he joined Newport County on a one-year deal. Clarke scored his first goal for the club with an 87th minute winner against former club Walsall, assisted by another former Walsall teammates Cameron Norman

Did you know?

Clarke scored his first professional goal playing for Bristol Rovers in a 2–1 victory over Wycombe Wanderers at the start of the 2018–19 season

In September 2019 Clarke won the League Two Player of the Month award and the leagues goal of the month award.
