Jay Foulston

Date of birth

It's been a whirlwind pre-season for young academy star Jay Foulston!

For the 2016/17 Season, Jay Foulston was playing in the U16s Newport County AFC Academy side.  Towards the end of the season, he made the occasional appearance for the undefeated U18s team and was included in a number of Central League games whilst the first team squad focused on the Great Escape.

The teenager's performances in these games, meant he was invited to join the first team for a number of pre-season matches and was picked out by manager Michael Flynn as one of the stand-out performers in pre-season.

Michael Flynn gave Jay squad number 18 in July 2017 and the youngster has trained with the first team ever since.

Jay made his senior debut for the Club against Southend United in the Carabao Cup coming on as a late substitute.

DID YOU KNOW: After coming on as a substitute against Southend United, Jay became the third youngest County player aged just 16 and 255 days.  (He is behind Regan Poole who first played aged 16 and 94 days, and Steve Aizlewood who was aged 16 and 194 days when he made his debut in 1968).
