After getting in touch on LinkedIn, manager Michael Flynn recruited veteran forward Paul Hayes to join his squad after spotting he was a free agent.

Strong, experienced and a constant threat in the box, Paul Hayes is a fantastic option for Michael Flynn to have in his squad.

At the age of 34, Newport County AFC is the 16th club of Paul's career. He has made over 500 appearances so far in his career in every League of the EFL.

Due to player registration regulations, Hayes made his first appearance in a County shirt in the 2-1 win over Leeds United in the Emirates FA Cup.

Hayes has made most of his appearances at Wycombe Wanderers and Scunthorpe United, amassing over 120 goals so far in his career.

When he signed, Michael Flynn commented: "Iā€™m delighted to get Paul in.  He is an experienced, quality addition to our squad and will help the strikers who are already at the Club.  He is still hungry and Iā€™m really looking forward to working with him.ā€

DID YOU KNOW? Hayes grew up in East London and went to Barclay Junior School in Leyton, where he captained the school football team from the age of seven.
