James Bittner

Date of birth

Goalkeeper, coach, even caretaker manager for a game or two ... James Bittner's been busy since he joined The Exiles.

James Bittner first joined The Exiles in 2013 but was only at the Club a short time before moving to Salsbury City.

He later returned to Newport County as a player/coach in June 2016 signed by then manager Warren Feeney.  After Feeney departed the Club the following September, Bittner became joint caretaker manager with Sean McCarthy for two games before the appointment of Graham Westley.

Bittner remained in his role as player/coach under Westley.  After Westley's departure in March, Bittner remained at County under now manager Michael Flynn and in June 2017 signed another one-year deal with the Club stating he's expecting 2017/18 to be an exciting season.

Not only a top-quality, experienced goalkeeper, and an excellent goalkeeping coach, Bittner is also a key figure within the coaching staff and can often be seen on the touchline with Michael Flynn, Wayne Hatswell and Lennie Lawrence.

DID YOU KNOW: Bittner's debut for Newport County AFC came against Plymouth in October 2016 after Joe Day was shown a red card in the 36th minute.
