Anthony Hartigan put pen-to-paper on a deal in south Wales in January 2021, signing for Newport County AFC on loan from AFC Wimbledon until the end of the season. Spotted as a young talent, Hartigan joined the Dons when he was 14 and went on to sign his first professional contract at the club on his 17th birthday. The midfielder made his debut at Kingsmeadow in August 2017 against Brentford in the EFL Cup and played the full 120 minutes. His first goal came later that month during an EFL Trophy tie against Barnet.
