Thank you from the Club
Newport County AFC wish to place on record the phenomenal support received from fans in answering the call to assist in the efforts to make the Rodney Parade pitch playable.Chairman Les Scadding, Director Howard Greenhaf, Manager Justin Edinburgh and all the players and staff were amazed and humbled by the response this week from volunteers in the movement of covers on and off the pitch.
Chief Executive Dave Boddy spoke to Sky Sports News earlier to re-iterate the club's thanks for the volunteers' efforts and to assure County fans that everything was being done to ensure future matches would go ahead as planned.
'The initial call went out on Tuesday evening and within an hour 20 volunteers were at the ground in horrendous weather conditions working until late at night to lay the covers down. 25 volunteers were also in attendance from 8:00am on Friday assisting staff in taking the covers off. The level of support has been incredible and the club will do all we can to repay their endeavour.'
