International Futsal Friendly in Newport
Following a historic win against Greece in their last outing the Wales Futsal squad will continue their preparations for the UEFA Futsal Euro qualifiers with two home international fixtures against visitors Andorra.
Wales will play two International fixtures over the weekend of the 29th and 30th of November with both games a 7pm kick off at the Wales National Veledrome stadium in Newport which will be transformed into an International Futsal arena for the weekend.
Wales faced Andorra only 12 months ago again on home soil in Newport. In a pulsating game which had a passionate home crowd on the edge of their seats Wales were narrowly defeated despite laying siege on the Andorra goal. A final score of Wales 4 v 5 in Andorra’s favour was bitterly disappointing for the Welsh Dragons however, they will be eager to seek revenge and put on an excellent performance in front of the home crowd.
Visitors Andorra themselves are preparing for their ninth appearance in the UEFA Futsal European championships with Wales only making their debut in the competition two years ago. Wales are currently ranked 85th in the World with Andorra currently sitting 69th .
After an exciting and dominant winning performance against Greece ranked 52nd in the World rankings, Wales will be full of confidence and looking to build ready for the main event in January. Wales will travel to Montenegro in the new year to face Finland, Montenegro and Cyprus in Group B of the UEFA Futsal EURO preliminary qualifiers
Tickets are available for both internationals on the Saturday and Sunday evening. Admission is free with entertainment and refreshments available to create a fantastic family atmosphere to cheer on the young Welsh Dragons
Newport County AFC Futsal Scholars are playing Newport County U16's in an exhibition match prior to the Sunday match with kick off at 15:30.
