County win at Wycombe
Jimmy Dack picked up his first win of his caretaker Manager reign beating Wycombe at Adams Park on Saturday afternoon, the first time since April 2014 that Wycombe have lost a Saturday league game. A Yan Klukowski brace was enough to seal the three points and send the Amber Army home with the maximum haul.
The game started quietly and it was County who scored with the first real chance of the half, Miles Storey playing the ball in from the left hand side to find Rene Howe, who laid the ball off to Yan Klukowski to find the bottom corner and give County the lead in the 20th minute of the game. Darren Jones was next to go close for County as he headed just wide from a corner with ten minutes to go before the break.
County continued to apply the pressure and Mark Byrne and Rene Howe both went close to doubling the lead for County, but the ball eventually found its way behind the goal for a goal kick. Then came a sublime bit of keeping as McClure picked up a loose back pass to find himself one on one with Joe Day, the County stopper getting his timing spot on to deny what looked a certain goal for the hosts.
HALF TIME: Wycombe 0-1 County
Wycombe came out of the blocks quickly in the second half and Joe Day had to be on hand to save and hold a shot from McClure just a couple of minutes into the half. Wycombe's early pressure paid off as Joe Day got down well to save from a long range effort, the rebound however found Onyedinma who levelled the scores to make it 1-1 on 55 minutes.
Joe Day was again involved on 65 minutes as he saved and pushed away to safety, just moments later the County keeper saved and gathered a rebound to deny the Wycombe strikers. With 11 minutes left to play Yan Klukowski doubled his haul for the day, Mark Byrne's free kick finding Ismail Yakubu at the far post to play in Klukowski who finished at the first time of asking and give County the lead late on.
County then survived five minutes of stoppage time to seal the win and three points, the first under Caretaker Manager Jimmy Dack.
