PREVIEW: FAW YOUTH CUP SEMI-FINAL

Get to know the players that will be taking on Swansea City in tonight's FAW Youth Cup tie.

The County's youngsters travel to the Genquip Stadium (Port Talbot) to face Swansea City in the FAW Youth Cup semi-final.

Youth team Coach Danny Elliott provides us with information on the players that will be representing the Exiles.

Corey Sheppard - ‘Son of ex-County forward Gary, Corey is box to box midfielder with a good passing range.’


Sam James -‘Quick left footed centre back from the Gwent Valleys, joined us as a 16- year old from Cardiff City.’


Dafydd Jones -‘Daffyd, another Gwent valley boy and is literally one of our own. He has been with the Club ever since we established our junior academy, playing in every age group. The pocket sized winger can go past players and deliver crosses, as well as grab a goal.’


Cedrick Mpadi -‘Athletic and strong, Cedrick is another of our Cardiff based and former Cardiff City players, joining Newport in 2014.’


  -Lewi Banford‘Lewi is a character and always joking around. A midfielder with a good engine and covers a lot of ground. He joined the club from Bristol Rovers and was part of our very successful under-16s team of 2013-2014. Made a first-team appearance in our League Two fixture against Dagenham & Redbridge.’ 


 Liam Angel -‘Left footed and tenacious, Liam was another player to join us from Cardiff City. Liam was part of the successful Victory Shield squad last year and experienced with Wales at under-17 level.’


Nathan Mathias - ‘Nathan, who is based in Porthcawl, has trialed at Man City and Fulham before joining Newport. Also a good rugby player, Nathan was offered a deal with the Cardiff Blues in 2014.’


Elliott Mathews -‘Goalkeeper from Tremorfa, who has been with the Club for three years and is a very dedicated hard working member of the squad.’


Finlay Wood -Newport born full-back and brother of Spencer, who played in last years’ semi-final. Finlay can play in midfield or fullback and has a cultured left foot.’


Jake Young - A deep holding midfielder from Newport. Jake often breaks up play and restarts attacks for the team.’


Rhys KavanaghCardiff born midfielder, with an eye for a goal. Rhys can also play out wide.’


Modou TourayGambian born striker from Newport. Modou had trials with both Swansea and Leicester, before signing a scholarship with Newport County.’


 - Nyall GreyA quick striker from Cardiff Bay. Nyall scored a memorable goal against MK Dons in last seasons FA Youth Cup.’


 Dion Molyneux -Newbridge based defender, who is strong, quick and good on the ball. Dion has recovered from a long standing injury this season and is now starting to impress in the youth alliance.’


Connah Hughes- 'A tall striker, who is very reliable with his back to goal. Connah signed in the summer from Torquay United.'


Tickets for the tie can be purchased at the turnstiles on the evening of the game, priced at £3 for adults and £1 for Juniors and OAP’s.
