WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY

22 March 2016

All fans are encouraged to wear blue at our away game against Yeovil Town as part of the celebrations.

Yeovil Town & Newport County are pleased to support the 2016 Level Playing Field (LPF) Weeks of Action. This annual initiative, now in its 11th year, aims to celebrate access and inclusion for disabled sports fans across England and Wales.

Disabled people constitute the largest minority group at around 15% of the population and this number is increasing year on year. Naturally, a large number of disabled people are football fans too and we are pleased to take this opportunity to thank our own disabled fans for their continued loyalty and dedication to our great clubs.

But we also appreciate that many disabled people have yet to share the passion and pleasures of being a football fan. Yeovil Town & Newport County are pleased to provide reserved disabled parking bays, dedicated stewards, audio commentary for the blind and visually impaired (at Huish Park) plus a number of other services that can be supplied upon request, we welcome disabled fans along with their families and friends.

As such Yeovil Town & Newport County are pleased to support the Level Playing Field Weeks of Action 2016 by supporting World Autism Awareness Day at the Yeovil v Newport League 2 match on Saturday 02 April 2016. Supported by Autism Wessex, all the players will be wearing blue Autistic Society t-shirts, autistic people and their carers have been given free tickets to the match, whilst all the fans have been encouraged to wear blue for the game, thus promoting #LIUB "Light it up blue".

We are joining together with sports clubs, fans and organisations across England and Wales who are all #united4access and have chosen to share one common message - access and inclusion for all.
