Newport County AFC are delighted to announce that Matt Dolan has signed a two-year deal with the Club.
Dolan is primarily a midfielder but is also comfortable in defence. He began his career at Middlesbrough and went on a number of loan spells including being part of the Yeovil Town side which earned promotion to the Championship in 2012/13 Season.
A play-making midfielder, he can chip in with the odd goal; often a wondergoal. No one will forget the 75-yard strike he scored for Yeovil Town in 2016.
On signing for the club, Dolan said: “I’m delighted to sign for County and am really excited for a new challenge ahead. The manager’s enthusiasm and ambition is really exciting and I’m looking forward to the upcoming season as we look to make it a really positive one for Newport County.”
Manager Michael Flynn said: “Matty comes from a good pedigree having started his career at Middlesbrough and is technically one of the best midfielders in the league. He’s very good on set-pieces and an all-round intelligent footballer.
"I’m really excited having Matty in; he was one of my main targets this summer and fits the criteria of what we want at this football club. He’s ambitious and buys into what we’re aiming to achieve with a successful season.”
