Keith Oakes
Aside from supporters, most teammates from our most successful era hail as their best, Captain and centre-half Keith Oakes. Indeed, many supporters from all era’s give him the same acclamation.
Keith was briefly our record signing in September 1978, demonstrating his
qualities that would lead us through the 79/80 Promotion and Welsh Cup Double and the following season our European exploits.
His iron-like commitment saw him play for half an hour with a broken arm! His composure on the ball was equally impressive.
Keith’s determination also paid dividends up front, scoring 34 in 284
appearances, until his departure in 1984.
His inclusion in the Hall of Fame was at our Centenary Dinner on 27th October, 2012.
