Pilgrims travel to County
Newport County AFC play Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday April 8th at Rodney Parade (Kick Off: 7:45pm) in their final re-arranged game before getting back onto level pegging in games played with the rest of Sky Bet League 2.This match was originally scheduled for the last Tuesday in January but was one of 6 home games that fell to the weather during a stop start season for the County. In the corresponding fixture at Home Park last October both teams fought out a goal-less draw that left The Pilgrims 3 points off the drop zone in 19th place whilst The Exiles were in 9th place just one place off the play-offs.
As the 2 teams meet now with just 6 games left to play Plymouth would go 2 points off the play-offs with a win whilst Newport County AFC will go 12th with a victory.
Plymouth Argyle will be roared on by a large travelling contingent with 860 tickets sold for the away end already and the County Choir will need to be in fine voice for what is sure to be another fantastic atmosphere under the lights for this final evening game of the season at Rodney Parade.
County will be without Danny Crow who is still recovering from a back injury. Darcy Blake returns to the squad after serving his one match ban whilst Yakubu is a doubt after taking a knock in the excellent 1-1 draw at high flying Chesterfield last weekend.
Plymouth will take the same squad that lost at Burton Albion 1-0 on Saturday but will include striker Jason Banton although it is too soon for fellow striker Lewis Alessandra.
Both sets of supporters will be able to pay on the day in what is sure to be a lively encounter.
