BASINGSTOKE TOWN FC
This will be Basingstoke's fifth pre-season friendly as they prepare for the Conference South season. Pre-season started with two draws against Winchester City (2-2) and Yeovil Town (1-1) respectively, those results were followed up with two wins against a Reading Development side (1-0) and Hungerford Town (3-1). Basingstoke had a mixture of first team players and trialists on show against Hungerford Town as Basingstoke forward Manny Williams scored alongside Lloyd Macklin and Sam Argent to give Basingstoke a 3-1 win over the Southern Premier outfit. One of the trialists on show was Basingstoke's latest signing Chris Flood who is likely to play apart in Tuesday nights friendly.
NEWPORT COUNTY AFC
County continued their unbeaten pre-season run against Gloucester City on Saturday afternoon, after a slow start to the game a late double from Rene Howe gave County a 2-0 win in Cinderford. A number of chances fell to Gloucester City in the first half as County's defence held up well under pressure for a third consecutive clean sheet. County head to Basingstoke with a near fully fit squad as Max Porter (Groin) and Danny Crow (Back) are still unavailable along with Jamie Stephens, Aaron O'Connor will be available after missing the friendly with Gloucester City through personal reasons.
