Preview of D&R
County make a rare Wednesday appearance as they take on Dagenham & Redbridge at Rodney Parade (Kick Off: 7:45pm) for their second successive home game after Sunday's 1-1 draw against Exeter City.Defender Tom Naylor comes back into contention after serving a one match ban and Byron Anthony took full part in training on Tuesday as he recovered from a kidney infection.
Ian McLoughlin is likely to continue in goal as Lenny Pidgeley moves ever closer to a return whilst Jamie Stephens suffered a set-back and will need to be re-assessed by the medical team.
Ismail Yakubu is unlikely to be involved after coming off on the hour against Exeter City with a re-occurrence of a thigh strain originally picked up in the 0-0 draw with Fleetwood Town whilst Andy Sandell misses out with a hamstring injury. Aaron O'Connor stepped up his rehabilitation by being involved in part of training on Tuesday, giving a lift to both the squad and the player himself.
Justin Edinburgh is concentrating on the game against Dagenham & Redbridge and nothing more. 'We are looking forward to the game, the lads are focused on the game in hand and nothing else. As long we continue to do the right things, the win will come. The attitude and application is right, I see that every day in training. I am confident that the hard work I witness on a day to day basis will be rewarded sooner rather than later.'
Lee Minshull scored the equaliser on Sunday and Edinburgh sees him as an important member of the starting eleven as the season has progressed: 'Lee is a pivotal part of the team now and he seems to be excelling in the latter part of the season as he did last year.'
Dagenham & Redbridge make their second trip to South Wales in a few months after staying overnight prior to the postponed game back in January. Manager Wayne Burnett can call on second top scorer Abu Ogogo, who scored the equaliser the last time these two sides met, as well as Charlton Athletic loanee Adebayo Azeez, who scored both goals against Bristol Rovers in last week's 2-1 win.
County currently lie one place and one point below The Daggers in fourteenth place of Sky Bet League 2 but the Exiles would climb to eleventh with victory.
Tickets can be purchased on the day and Season Ticket holders can use their voucher of bring a friend for free as this is one of the games in which the voucher can be utilised.
