The striker is the feature interview in Saturday's match day programme...
The striker discusses how frustrating it was to pick up an injury during his debut against Cambridge United, after a promising pre-season.
He said, "I felt really good in pre-season and felt good during the game. I felt like the team was playing well and starting the game brightly. It was extremely disappointing, because I wasn’t expecting it and to miss a good couple of games after, it felt like I was playing catch-up."
After scoring his first goal for the Exiles against Exeter at Rodney Parade, Lenell believes that the strikers have had the pressure lifted off them, as the team found more defensive stability.
He added, "I think after I got my first goal, that was a big relief. After the second goal I remember thinking that things were just coming off for me. With the team playing well and keeping a good number of clean sheets, we appear to be more solid and as a striker the pressure is lifted, as you don’t think that you will have to score two or three goals to win games. That’s a massive bonus and at the minute it seems to be working."
The striker also relays how he almost signed for our neighbours Cardiff City, before joining Lincoln.
The striker revealed, "I went to Lincoln on trial and was offered something, but because I knew the coaches there I told them about the interest from Cardiff and they told me to go ahead. So I went to Cardiff for a couple of weeks and they offered me a deal, but in the end I wanted to stay closer to home so I signed a two-year deal at Lincoln."
