MATCH REPORT: CRAWLEY TOWN

1 March 2016

The Exiles fall to defeat at the hands of Crawley Town.

Manager Warren Feeney made one change from the team that defeated Mansfield Town on Saturday, with Yan Klukowski replacing Scott Barrow. Midfielder Jake Gosling made the bench, after the Club received his international clearance.

From the onset Gwion Edwards look to cause problems down the right, exposing gaps in between Ayina and Davies and delivering a succession of dangerous crosses into the County area.

Thirty-five minutes into the game the hosts took the lead when a Della-Verde corner from the right was headed into his own net by Scott Boden, who glanced the ball with a header at the near post.

The goal sparked County into life and they had four corners in quick succession after going behind, the first of which was headed towards goal by Conor Wilkinson, but the Crawley 'keeper Paul Jones was able to collect comfortably.

Just before the break captain Mark Byrne had a cross tipped over the crossbar, which amounted to the best chance of the half for the Exiles.

After the break Crawley were able to double their advantage with fifty-three minutes on the clock, when Shamir Feneion was able to head home from close-range from a corner.

County responded well, with Mark Byrne seeing his effort from outside the area touched past the post by Paul Jones in the Crawley goal, but County were rarely able to threaten the Crawley 'keeper throughout the second half.

With just five minutes left on the clock Medy Elito picked up his second yellow card for obstruction and was shown his marching orders by referee Tim Robinson, which completed a disappointing evening for the Exiles.

County Starting XI: Day, Holmes, Hughes, Davies, Jones, Elito, Klukowski, Byrne (C), Ayina, Boden, Wilkinson
