Looking at the home side
Grimsby Town have had a promising start to their season picking up four wins from their first nine games that has put them comfortably in mid-table. Their star man is Omar Bogle who already has 8 league goals to his name, including a hat trick against Stevenage at the end of August. County will want to take advantage of Grimsby’s defending, as they have only kept two clean sheets all season.

Last Meeting
A Christian Jolley goal gave County a 1-0 win on the day and a 2-0 win on aggregate in the semi-final of the play-offs in the football conference. After a late goal from Ismail Yakubu had given County the lead in the away leg, they returned to Rodney Parade to finish the tie off and book their trip to Wembley.
Last Time Out
County let a half time lead slip against Cambridge United as they lost by two goals to one at Rodney Parade. Rhys Healey had given the Exiles the lead early in the first half when he was left unmarked at the back post, but an identical goal for Uche Ikpeazu in the second half followed by a Luke Berry bicycle kick seven minutes from time was enough to give the visitors their first league win of the season and drop the Exiles into the bottom two.
The Man in Charge
Ben Toner is in charge for this match with his assistants Ian Dudley and Ian Smedley, the fourth official is Ricky Wootton. This is Toner’s fifth season on the list and last season he was in charge of two Newport County fixtures, the 3-0 away win at Portsmouth and the 1-0 away defeat to Hartlepool United. In his career he has had the whistle for 97 matches and handed out 268 yellow cards at an average of 2.76 per game. He has also sent off 14 players.
