Newport County AFC are pleased to announce the loan signing of forward Alex Samuel who joins the club from Swansea City.

The twenty one year old striker joins the Exiles in time for tomorrow’s Sky Bet League two encounter with Colchester United at Rodney Parade.

The Neath born forward was signed by Swansea City in 2012 after four years at Aberystwyth Town. He has been out on loan previously at Greenock Morton.

Speaking after the loan deal had been agreed manager Graham Westley said “Alex brings pace and power. He can play wide or up top. And as we all know, pace can change games. The EFL Trophy game at Newport was a good advert for what Alex can do. His threat was constant and his winning goal was well deserved. With young players, it is important to be patient and keep expectations in check. But there is always a youngster who catches fire and it will be great if Alex fulfills his potential as quickly as Josh Sheehan rose to prominence”.

The loan deal will run to the end of the season.
