Newport County AFC are delighted to link up with the British Lionhearts to offer fans a discount on tickets to watch top-class, international team boxing.
Using the promotional code “NCAFC”, Newport County fans can get a 20% discount on tickets to watch the British Lionhearts World Series of Boxing (WSB) showdown with the France Fighting Roosters on Saturday 14 April 2018 at the Newport Centre.
The top-of-the-table clash will decide which team finishes the regular season as the winner of the European group of WSB.
With the discount, tickets will cost just £12 (plus £1.50 booking fee) and are available at www.gbboxing.org.uk/tickets.
WSB is a team boxing competition which bridges the gap between Olympic and professional boxing and is contested by the world’s leading boxers from the amateur code.
Boxers compete without vests or headguards over five three-minute rounds. A WSB match is made-up of five contests and the team that wins three bouts or more is the winner.
The match between Britain and France will feature world class talent on both sides with Ireland’s three-time European champion, Joe Ward, due to box for the Lionhearts, and France’s 2016 lightweight gold medallist, Sofiane Oumiah, expected to be in the Roosters’ line-up.
The evening will also include an undercard of amateur boxing featuring Wales versus England. The undercard will feature four up-and-coming Welsh boxers: Billy Unsworth (Shotton ABC), Rhys Edwards (Rhonnda ABC), Connor Burns (Llandudno ABC) and Jordan Withers (Gelligaer ABC).
The British Lionhearts’ Head Coach, Rob McCracken - who is also the Performance Director of GB Boxing and the coach of IBF, WBA and IBO world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua - said: “WSB is a top class competition. All of the leading nations and the best boxers take part in it and WSB shows feature five, evenly matched, high quality bouts.
