Newport County AFC are delighted to announce the signing of Saikou Janneh on a season-long loan deal from Bristol City.
The striker will link up with the Exiles until the end of the 2020/21 season after joining from the Sky Bet Championship club, with the option of him returning to the Robins in January.
Janneh spent the last two seasons on loan at Torquay United. He helped the club on their way to securing the National League South title in the 2018/19 campaign, where he scored 16 league goals.
The 20-year-old said he sought positive advice from his Robins team-mates Tyreeq Bakinson, Antoine Semenyo and Shawn McCoulsky - who previously spent time on loan with the Exiles from Bristol City - before signing on the dotted line.
After finalising the deal, Janneh said: “The manager really wanted me to come here and he likes the way that I play. I learned a lot playing in the National League with Torquay last season and I think it has put me in good stead for League Two.
“I want to come to this club, work hard and score as many goals as possible. I can’t wait for the new season to get under way.”
Manager Michael Flynn added: “I’ve been watching Saikou closely over the last few seasons and he is someone who I feel can enjoy a successful season with this football club.
“I wanted him to join the club in January, so I’m delighted that he is finally here now. I’m looking forward to working with him and hopefully this club can play a big role in his development.”
