The Rodney Parade pitch took on a whole new look this week – with sand spread across the playing surface and work on a new irrigation system complete.
The pitch level continues to be raised back up with sand – and over 2,500 tonnes of it – clearly visible as South Wales Sports Grounds complete phase two.
The high-tech irrigation system, with sprinklers installed into the pitch, is finished while the outer field has been prepped for installation of new 4G around the pitch.
Home dressing room work, that will eventually double the floor space, remains ongoing.
Jon Raymond, Facilities Manager at Dragons Rugby, said: “The project is really gathering momentum now with the irrigation system complete.
“We are close to completing the exciting process of rebuilding the pitch back up, now the sand layer is completely down, and the focus will soon switch to the pitch and new playing surface.”
