The transformation of the Rodney Parade pitch continues at pace – with the latest images from the home of Newport County AFC showing a very different look.
Contractors South Wales Sports Grounds have been on site for just over a week and have now completely removed the top level of the pitch and gone down to a depth of nine inches.
This has exposed the old sand banding and drainage pipes under the pitch.
The extensive work during the first week has been carried out in preparation for the complete removal of the old drainage system.
Floodlighting and Electrical Services also continue to work at the stadium as they install new LED floodlights, initially across the top of the Bisley Stand before moving to the other side of the stadium.
Jon Raymond, Facilities Manager at Dragons Rugby, said: "There is a huge amount of change already clearly visible with the top level of the pitch now totally removed.
"The wet weather has certainly made it challenging at times during the first week of work, but the contractors have been fantastic to get so much work done and keep us on schedule."
