Match Report: Undy AFC 0-4 Newport County AFC

8 July 2023

Newport made a good start to their pre-season campaign after securing a 4-0 victory over fellow welsh side, Undy AFC this afternoon.

County came out of the blocks fast pushing deep into the Undy half, with Omar Bogle drawing a foul just outside the Undy penalty area just 30 seconds into the fixture. New signing Bryn Morris sighted up goal and drilled it home to make a dream start for the Exiles.

Undy looked to make a reply in turn with some clever runs through the park which amounted to nothing thanks to the alert Newport back-line.

20 minutes into the fixture the rain started pouring heavily causing some slips and slides on the pitch, but didn’t deter either team and the intense battle continued.

In the 34th minute County doubled their lead with Waite smashing home the second of the game.

County went into the break 2 goals to the good.

HALF TIME

The sides swapped halves and Newport’s starting 11 changed for the second 45 minutes and got us underway.

Like the first, the second half started fast with Undy pushing deep into the County half but being unsuccessful in the final third. Newport’s back-line had to deal with some troubling crosses and did so with conviction.

It wasn’t until the 76th minute when another new addition Nathan Wood floated a ball over to Kiban Rai who hit it home to make the score 3-0.

Undy made some great attacking runs, but each run was dealt with accordingly.

Kyle Jameson picked up the ball and drove through the park creating chances, but Newport just lacked that finishing touch to add to the already 3-0 scoreline.

The sun had come out and the game was drawing to a close when Young Kiban Rai drove down the left side beating his marker and into the oppositions box, he slotted it past the Undy keeper to finish the game in style.

Undy AFC 0-4 Newport County AFC.
