Bobby Kamwa hailed Newport County's perseverance after they secured a fourth consecutive league victory with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Carlisle United.

The Exiles extended their unbeaten streak to five matches on Tuesday night, picking up an impressive 13 points from a possible 15.

Reflecting on the performance, Kamwa was full of praise for his teammates' determination and commitment.

“The boys fought hard for the three points today, and we’re really pleased. Now, we just look ahead to Saturday,” he said post-match.

“Four wins on the bounce means a lot, especially considering where we’ve come from.

“We’re picking up points now, but we need to keep that consistency going forward. Momentum is key in football.

“Everyone is buying into the way the gaffer wants us to play, and we’re putting everything into each game. We just have to take it one step at a time and keep building.”

While County have been finding the net regularly in recent weeks, their latest triumph was built on a solid defensive display.

The backline stood firm to ensure back-to-back clean sheets - something Kamwa believes was just as crucial as the winning goal.

“Massive credit to the defence—they’ve been solid," he added. "It was another important clean sheet for us and i'm delighted for the boys.

“Everyone who’s playing their part has been excellent. Up top, we’re creating chances, and recently, we’ve been taking them.

“Hopefully, we can keep that going now into the next few matches.”

Kyle Hudlin proved to be the match-winner on Tuesday night, coming off the bench to net the decisive goal.

And the 24-year-old was delighted for his teammate, highlighting the patience and hard work he has shown.

“With so many strikers and forwards in the squad, you’ve got to stay ready for your chance,” he explained.

"I’m really pleased for Kyle - he works hard in training, and I’m glad he took his opportunity today.

"That goal will give him confidence going into the next games.”

County’s recent form has given supporters plenty to cheer about, and Kamwa expressed his appreciation for their continued backing.

He finished: “They’ve been brilliant to me since I came here. I really appreciate their support, whether we win or lose - they’re always behind us.

“I’m just happy for them because it’s been a long time coming. They deserve that bit of joy, and hopefully, we can give them even more going forward.”
