Christian Fuchs | “The boys definitely deserved more”

Reaction

Christian Fuchs admits there are many positives to take from the game, but believes his side missed an opportunity to extend their gap from the relegation zone.

The Exiles started as the stronger side in the first half, but Daniel Kanu grabbed an equaliser before Alexander Pattison struck the winner.

Despite the result, Fuchs still believes his team performed well and put in a big effort.

“It’s very disappointing. The boys put in such a big effort, digging deep and putting their bodies on the line.

“I think the boys definitely deserved more than what they walked away with.”

Despite the loss, County remain outside the relegation zone as Harrogate Town and Barrow both lost their games, but Fuchs feels the team have missed an opportunity.

“It’s a missed opportunity. That definitely hurts.

“But when you look at the performances of the last two or three games, that’s something we can build on.”

The County manager also acknowledged there are still games to play but stressed the importance of taking advantage of results elsewhere.

“There are still seven games to go. The games are not getting more difficult, but they are running out.

“It’s something where we just need to be more clinical and take advantage of the chances that we have.”

Fuchs also noted that the focus cannot be solely on games against relegation rivals.

“It’s not only those games. We cannot just focus on matches against our immediate rivals.

“We need to take it game by game, lift the boys, and keep pushing forward into the next one.”

The Exiles head coach also provided injury updates on Lee Jenkins and Michael Spellman.

“It was, again, something with his (Jenkins) shoulder.

“It’s an issue with his (Spellman) ankle, he cannot train.”
