Cole Jarvis | I’m looking forward to the season ahead

Cole Jarvis marked his return to Spytty Park with a goal as Newport County secured a 5-0 pre-season victory over Newport City.

The midfielder came off the bench to find the net against his former side, helping County make it two wins from two in their preparations ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Jarvis was delighted to be back at Spytty Park and part of a special occasion for both clubs.

“It feels good, it feels great to be back,” Jarvis said. “I enjoyed my time while I was here, it’s got me to where I am today.

“It’s nice to see it packed as well. It’s a good day for both clubs, especially for Newport City.”

Since signing for County in January, Jarvis has made 11 league appearances and played a small but crucial role in assisting the winning goal during the 3-2 victory over Oldham.

The midfielder reflected on the importance of proving himself and taking opportunities when they arrive.

“Coming from the lower level and working my way up, I’ve had points to prove, come in, be strong and prove that I can do it.

“The assist, I’ll take that all day. That’s my little claim to fame.

“But it’s good when people are backing you, trusting you in those positions, making sure they’re giving you the ball and you’re able to do that, it means the world.”

After joining County midway through last season, Jarvis is now preparing for his first full campaign with the club and is excited about what lies ahead.

“I’m looking forward to it very much. It’s nice to have a clean slate.

“Coming in last year, we were in a tough position. Obviously, for someone to come in at that time was tough.

“But now it’s fresh minds, fresh eyes and fresh opinions. The more experienced boys and the players brought in now as well are a huge help for us.

“It’s a completely different camp compared to the end of last year. I’m looking forward to it, feeling good and feeling fit.

“There’s still more to work on, but I’m happy to get going.”
