Newport County make the trip to Merseyside this weekend as we take on Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park. Here’s your full away day guide if you’re joining the Exiles on the road, brought to you by the Turmeric Co.
Travel by car
From the South/East, take the M6, M56 and M53 to Junction 4. Exit onto the B5151 (Mount Road) and continue for around two and a half miles. When Mount Road becomes Storeton Road, turn right onto Prenton Road West at the traffic lights – Prenton Park will be on your right after 200 yards.
Travel by rail
The nearest stations are Conway Park, Birkenhead Central, and Rock Ferry.
- From Liverpool Lime Street: Take a Wirral Line service to Conway Park (New Brighton/West Kirby trains) or Birkenhead Central/Rock Ferry (Ellesmere Port/Chester trains).
- From Chester: Board a Liverpool-bound service and alight at Rock Ferry or Birkenhead Central.
From Birkenhead Central, it’s around a 20-minute walk: cross Argyle Street, follow Borough Road, and continue towards Prenton Park.
From Rock Ferry, it’s a 15-minute walk: head right onto Bedford Road, follow Bedford Drive until Mount Road, then turn right onto Borough Road. The ground is five minutes on the left.
Parking
There is a car park at Prenton Park priced at £7 per car on the day, or £6 if purchased in advance via trfctickets.co.uk. Spaces are limited and expected to sell out, so advance booking is strongly recommended.
Please note that a residents’ parking scheme is in operation on many of the surrounding roads. The car park is just a short walk from the away end, with a limited number of accessible spaces prioritised for blue badge holders (though a badge does not guarantee a space).
Postcode for sat nav: CH42 9PY.
Tickets
Away fans are housed in the Cowsheds Stand, with a capacity of 2,200. Tickets must be purchased in advance through Newport County. You can purchase tickets by clicking here.
There are three wheelchair and carer spaces allocated for away fans, located in The Bebington Paddock. These should be purchased via Newport County’s ticket office, following the club’s accessibility policies. Hospitality areas are also accessible via lift if required, and stewards will be on hand to assist with any accessibility needs on the day.
Food and drink
Catering in the Cowsheds Stand offers a variety of matchday options, including pies, burgers, hot and cold drinks, and alcoholic beverages. Specials change from game to game, and kids’ snacks such as popcorn, sweets, and chocolate are also available.
Additional Information
- Accessibility: The away end includes a Changing Places toilet, stoma-friendly toilets, a quiet room (also available for breastfeeding or prayer), and facilities for neurodiverse supporters. Please speak to a steward if you need access.
- Cash Points: The nearest ATM is on Borough Road behind the away end (near Tesco, around 50 metres away). If walking from Rock Ferry Station, cashpoints can also be found on Mount Road.
