Exiles Support Men’s Mental Health Charity ‘Man Up’ at Worcester City

Man Up Charity

Newport County will be supporting the men’s mental health charity ‘Man Up Gloucestershire’ at Saturday’s pre-season friendly at Worcester City (3pm).

The fixture at The Sixways Stadium is part of Worcester City’s programme of home friendlies that raises awareness and funds for a cause close to the hearts of many in football and beyond.

Newport County’s involvement in the fixture not only comes as part of preparations for the new season, but in solidarity with Worcester City’s Director of Football, Tim Harris, a figure well known to many at Rodney Parade.

In November last year, Tim and his wife Karen tragically lost their son to suicide.

Tim said: “I want to thank everyone at Worcester City and the clubs involved in our pre-season home programme. I’m especially grateful to my former clubs for the kindness and support they have shown to both myself and Karen.’’

Apart from raising awareness, the club will be collecting funds for Man Up Gloucestershirethrough a matchday raffle featuring signed shirts donated by Worcester City, Newport County, Cheltenham Town and Kidderminster Harriers.

There will also be a Man Up Gloucestershire stand at the match, giving supporters the opportunity to meet charity representatives, learn more about their work, or simply stop for a chat.

“We encourage all supporters making the journey to Saturday’s match to back this vital cause,’’ added Tim.

Worcester City will also be offering hospitality on the day with Tim and his family in attendance.
