Former Welsh international Alan Curtis MBE will be the special guest of the club for Newport County’s League Two clash with Port Vale on Saturday, September 7 (3pm).
Curtis, regarded as one of the greatest players to come out of Wales, made 35 appearances for his country, netting six times.
He was awarded the MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List in 2020 for services to Welsh football after a glittering playing and coaching career that spanned over four decades.
The 70-year-old, who is now honorary president at Swansea City following his retirement from coaching in 2019, represented the Swans during three separate spells that saw him score 110 goals in over 400 appearances. He also had spells at Southampton, Stoke, Cardiff and Barry Town.
Curtis, who overcame prostate cancer eight years ago, is now an active fundraiser as ambassador for Maggie's cancer charity.
