Newport County is delighted to confirm that James Clarke will be our special guest of honour in hospitality for our next home fixture against Grimsby Town on February 7.
The occasion will give the club and supporters the opportunity to congratulate James on an outstanding career, reflect on his time at Rodney Parade, and no doubt hear a few memorable stories from his years with County.
James Clarke, who announced his retirement from professional football last week, has been a hugely influential figure both on and off the pitch during his time with Newport County. A natural leader, Clarke made 138 appearances for the club, scoring five goals and providing six assists, and was later appointed club captain in recognition of his professionalism, commitment and leadership qualities.
One of the defining highlights of Clarke’s County career came during the 2023 to 2024 FA Cup run. His goals in both legs against Eastleigh proved crucial in helping Newport County progress, setting up the unforgettable FA Cup tie against Manchester United. Those performances ensured Clarke’s place in recent club history and provided supporters with memories that will live long in the memory.
To mark the occasion, we will once again be hosting a raffle on the day, giving supporters the chance to win a match-worn and signed James Clarke away shirt, which will be presented by Clarke himself.
