Jordan Wright signs for Newport County

Newport County are delighted to announce the signing of Jordan Wright, who joins the club ahead of the 2025-26 Sky Bet League Two campaign, subject to EFL approval.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper arrives at Rodney Parade from Grimsby Town where he made 37 appearances between the sticks for The Mariners.

Wright began his career at Nottingham Forest, progressing through the youth ranks before gaining senior experience with a number of loan moves across non-league, including spells at Alfreton Town, Alloa Athletic, and Hereford. His breakthrough came in 2022, when he signed permanently for Lincoln City and gain valuable League One over the past few seasons.

Standing at 6ft 4in, Wright is a modern, agile shot-stopper with a vocal presence in organising his defence. The shot stopper from Stoke and brings further experience into David Hughes’ squad, as preparations continue for the start of the new campaign.

Hughes added “We’re really pleased to welcome Jordan into the team. He’s got experience and he’s got youth on his side. Lee (Kendall) was keen to bring in someone that fits the profile that we needed and with Jordan, we feel that he can play a big role for us going forward.”
