Newport County travel down to Salford City in our second away match of the season at the Peninsula Stadium.
After the 2-2 draw against Tranmere Rovers only three days ago County are back in action on the 1 September 2026, 7:45pm.

THE OPPOSITION
The hosts have had tricky start to the League campaign losing every match and only scoring One goal this season, with a lot of change coming to the club.
Salford enjoyed an excellent 2025/26 campaign, finishing fourth and reaching the League Two play-off final, but a 3-0 defeat to Notts County at Wembley denied them promotion and ultimately brought the end of Karl Robinson’s reign.
Deadline day is now upon us, and Salford has used this transfer window to strength their squad up, signing 11 players with Five of them starting in their last match.
THE HISTORY
Salford were founded in 1940 as Salford Central/Salford Amateurs, however in 1990 they changed their name to Salford City and moved into the Northern Premier League in 2008.
However, in 2014 was the major turning point as Manchester United's famous Class of '92 — Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt — took a 50% stake in the club, with businessman Peter Lim owning the other 50%.
Since then the clubs rise has been massive as they gained four promotions in five seasons, taking them from the eighth tier to the Football League and have now become a solidified League Two team.
THE MANAGER
Peter Cklamovski was appointed on the 18 June 2026 replacing Karl Robinson in a controversial decision bringing mixed fan opinion.
Cklamovski has spent much of his career working alongside Ange Postecoglou, but his own managerial career has taken him through Australia, Japan and Malaysia before finally arriving in England with Salford.
But the start of a season has been one to forget, losing every game conceding Five and only scoring One putting them 23rd in the League currently.
ONES TO WATCH
Macaulay Langstaff was brought in from Millwall this season and is regarded as one of the best forwards in the league.
However, his start to the season has not been impressive as he hasn’t scored and even missed the first penalty in the shootout against Shrewsbury Town which saw them exit the Carabao Cup.
Another summer business addition, Luke Molyneux is one to keep an eye out for, as he has started every game this season, however, hasn’t picked up any G/A this campaign.
