Newport County fall to a narrow 2-1 defeat to Gloucester City at the KMM Energy Stadium.
Lee Jenkins scored the opening goal of the match as a corner delivery from Harrison Biggins found him open in the box where he headed the ball into the net.
However, in the second half Gloucester City scored two to take the lead and ultimately win the game.
This is County’s first pre-season loss after two victories against Bristol Manor Farm and Newport City.
County threatened after ten minutes when Cameron Norman delivered a dangerous cross towards Yahya Bamba, whose header drifted just wide of the target.
The Exiles continued to dominate possession, with Matt Smith producing another inviting delivery into the box, although it was just beyond the reach of Biggins.
Newport then broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute as Lee Jenkins rose highest to head home from close range following an excellent corner from Biggins.
The visitors continued to press for a second, with Biggins coming close after his powerful volley flew narrowly over the crossbar.
On the stroke of half-time, County almost doubled their advantage. A free kick was flicked into the danger area, finding Cameron Norman in space, but he was unable to bring the ball under control before the opportunity slipped away.
The second half brought a wave of changes, with Kieron Evans, Lewis Jamieson and Trialist C all introduced.
Shaun MacDonald found himself in a tricky situation after losing control of the ball but reacted well to regain possession and earn a foul.
However, the hosts drew level after a long throw caused problems inside the six-yard box, with the home side's number twenty reacting quickest to squeeze the ball home from close range.
Following the second hydration break, Chris Todd made more changes with Cole Jarvis & Kyle Cameron entering the action.
The hosts completed the turnaround as a cross from the flank found Gloucester’s Liam Cross free, who made no mistake with a close-range finish.
Newport continued to fight back but Trialist C received his second booking of the match and was ultimately sent off.
County made further changes during the third hydration break as Christian Doidge and Harri Pugh entered the field.
Doidge made an immediate impact, unleashing a thunderous strike that flashed just wide of the posts.
Further changes followed from Todd, with Lee Jenkins and Joe Thomas replaced by Trialist A and Harrison Halpin.
Despite the changes, Newport could not find an equaliser with City ultimately being the first team to defeat County this pre-season.
