Newport County fell to their first defeat of the pre-season campaign after losing 3-1 away to Torquay United.
It was the hosts who started on the front foot earning two early corners, keeping County on their toes in the opening exchanges.
Fifteen minutes in, and the Exiles’ first opportunity came from Michael Reindorf, who’s left-footed shot was wide of the far post.

At the other end of the pitch, the hosts took the lead when Dylan Morgan was able to bend the ball into the corner beating a stretching Jordan Wright.
Just five minutes later, Torquay doubled their lead. Jordan Dyer hit the bar with first header, but he had second attempt when the guided following cross into the far corner of the goal.
Wright was kept busy throughout and was forced into a solid save from a free-kick, but five minutes before the end of the first-half, Torquay grabbed another goal. Louis Dennis intercepted a loose ball in the box to strike home.
The Exiles’ had an opportunity to get on back before the break with Baker-Richardson, but the forward was just offside.
Half-Time
Newport made four changes at half-time, and it was forward Bobby Kamwa who was close to getting a goal back for County in the early exchanges. Glennon’s drove the ball into the six-yard box, but Kamwa was inches away from connecting with the cross.
Ged Garner also forced Torquay keeper James Hamon into a save when is left-footed effort threatened the bottom corner of the net.
Throughout the vast majority of the second half, both teams struggled to produce any meaningful opportunities. Keenan Patten coming close when he shot was blocked by Dreyer.
