Mummy by The Socials
A really exciting new band from right here in Newport. The Socials combine elements of Indie, Punk and Grime to make quite a unique sound that they describe as “delivering sharp, spoken word storytelling with raw energy”. “Mummy” is an upbeat indie–grime–punk crossover written after moving back home from London and accepting that the rockstar dream hadn’t quite covered the rent. Woody set up a studio inside Ant’s art space, and what started as a tongue-in-cheek dig about being back at his parents, quickly turned into a shout-along anthem when Fernquest added to the mix.
Rock ‘N’ Roll Suite by Bendricks
A Welsh indie-psych rock band from Barry, South Wales, formed in 2024. Known for energetic live shows and guitar-driven songs, the band has quickly gained attention on the South Wales music scene through early singles, regional gigs, and a growing fanbase. Their sound blends indie rock, psych rock, and guitar-driven alternative music. Their songs often focus on strong hooks, loud guitars, and emotionally direct lyrics, aiming to create an energetic and raw live experience rather than a heavily polished studio sound. This is their brand new single and is set for release 13th March.
Waiting ‘Till It All Works Out by John Denton
A British indie singer-songwriter and guitarist from Salford, Greater Manchester, known for gaining attention at a very young age through street performances and social media. Denton began playing guitar when he was eight years old, after receiving his first instrument as a Christmas present. Soon afterward, he started busking in Manchester city centre, performing covers of songs by local bands such as The Smiths, which helped him attract online attention and a growing following. Denton’s music is generally described as indie or alternative rock, influenced by Manchester’s guitar-driven scene. His performances often feature acoustic guitar, melodic songwriting, and classic British indie influences, reflecting artists associated with the city’s music heritage.
