Newport County host Crawley Town at Rodney Parade this Friday (3 April) for matchday 41 of EFL League Two.
Crawley currently sit level on points with County, with this game potentially having a huge impact on either club.
Here is everything you need to know about our opponents.
The History
Crawley Town were founded in 1896 and became founding members of the West Sussex Football League.
Crawley became a semi-professional club in 1962 and joined the Division One of the Southern League.
1969 saw them promoted but this would only last a season as they were relegated back to Division One of the Southern League and remained there until 1984.
Crawley did have a very successful FA Cup run in the 1991/92 season, as they reached the third round of the FA Cup but ultimately lost 5-0 to Brighton.
In 2005, the Reds finally became a professional team and in 2011, after defeating Tamworth 3-0 they won the Conference title and reached the EFL for the first time.
Just one season later their success continued and they secured promotion to League One, which is the furthest they have ever made it in the Football League.
The Form
This season has not been one to remember for Crawley after relegation from League One last season.
The Reds didn’t record a single win in their first five league games this season, losing four and drawing one.
Crawley also has the least amount of wins in League Two this season, alongside Harrogate Town, with seven wins.
However, Crawley have only lost one of their last five, drawing three and winning their most recent game against Gillingham.
In the FA Cup, they got knocked out in the first round, losing to Boreham Wood 3-0 as well as being knocked out of the EFL Cup in the first round by Swansea.
The Manager
Colin Kazim-Richards is the recently appointed manager for Crawley Town.
This is Kazim-Richards first managerial job and in his first and only game he managed his side to a 2-0 win against Gillingham.
Before becoming a manager, Kazim-Richards was a former Turkish international as well as playing for Galatasaray, Feyenoord and Brighton.
The Captain
Despite not playing since January, Dion Conroy is the current club captain.
Conroy has played over 100 games for Crawley and has featured in 21 games so far this season.
The defender is now in his fourth season at the Reds, having also spent more than half of his career at Swindon Town and Aldershot Town.
Conroy is also a League Two champion with Swindon and an Under 21 Premier League Champion with Chelsea.
Ones To Watch
Goalkeeper Jacob Chapman will be hoping to keep another clean sheet this Friday.
The Australian has been a crucial player since coming on loan in January from Huddersfield Town.
Chapman has kept six clean sheets in 14 matches, helping keep the Reds above relegation.
Another player who has contributed massively is Charlie Barker.
The young defender has put in a great effort in recent games to keep Crawley alive in games.
Alongside Chapman, they have only conceded four goals in five games.
