Newport County is delighted to announce the signing of former Leeds United forward Bobby Kamwa, subject to EFL approval.
The 24-year-old becomes the Exiles’ 12th summer acquisition, arriving after two seasons with Burton Albion in League One.
Born in Douala, Cameroon, Kamwa moved to England at nine years old and came through the ranks at Leeds United’s academy.
He stood out in United’s youth setup, particularly excelling for their under-18 team in the Professional Development League, where he gained recognition as a rising star when Mark Jackson’s squad clinched the Aspire Tri-Series in February 2018.
After earning a two-year professional contract that summer, Kamwa was loaned to Dunfermline in the Scottish Premiership for his debut season, marking his first steps in senior football.
In October 2022, Kamwa joined the Brewers, where he made 42 appearances and scored four goals across all competitions for the Pirelli Stadium side.
“I’m very pleased to be here,” said Kamwa after putting pen-to-paper.
“It’s a club that has shown a lot of interest in me and the way they have welcomed me has been amazing.
“I’ve spoken to the manager and he told me about the plans going forward, and that was something that really excited me.
“I just can’t wait to get going.”
Welcome to the Exiles, Bobby!
